To whom it may concern:

A year ago, I never expected to be able to tolerate even five minutes of My Little Pony, but since discovering Friendship Is Magic, I have paid for both seasons on iTunes and started purchasing official My Little Pony merchandise.  I cannot stress enough that "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" is my absolute favorite TV show.  The six little plastic ponies on my desk are the only TV show merchandise I own.

I have learned that the iTunes version of "The Last Roundup" has been modified to remove Derpy's name, change her voice, and "fix" her eyes.  I wish to state that I am disappointed in this change.  I do understand that there are valid public relations and perhaps even legal reasons for this change.  I understand that this change may have been necessary to avoid actions from the community that could have negatively affected My Little Pony.  Most importantly, this change does not change my opinion of Hasbro or DHX media, or the My Little Pony franchise.  It does sadden me, however, that this amazing in-show acknowledgement of the brony community escalated to the point of censorship.

If you can bring Derpy back, please do.  If you cannot, at least know that for most of us, this debacle will not detract from our appreciation of the show.  In my opinion, the people who complained about Derpy were misinterpreting and over-reacting to a kind gesture, but the people who are send hateful messages about this issue are over-reacting much worse and do not represent the overall fandom.  Ignore what hate may arise, accept the praise with humility, and keep producing this amazing show.

Your fan,
Matthew Carpenter
The one thing that has made me second-guess my association with the Brony community...

...The one thing that even briefly makes me regret being a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic....

...Is the way a few chose to act.

If you are one of the people who thinks the appropriate response to "Derpygate" is to spout hate and make physical threats towards Hasbro, DHX Media, or anybody related to the show, kindly remove me from your DeviantWatch now.

If you share my opinion that the people who are responsible for this show deserve respect and prefer to express your opinions in a calm and supportive manner, then write your own letter and send it to Hasbro and DHX. They need to know that having fans in our age group is not something they need to regret.

I never knew how bad that censor had truly gotten. I'm just glad it's behind everyone.
