Just a quick and dirty practice with transparencies... it looks like crap in small view (DeviantArt doesn't thumbnail .PNGs very well I guess), it's really semitransparent, so please full view and try downloading it and placing it on top of other images... 'Tis the power of PNG. It came out nice enough that I decided to mark it as a deviation rather than a scrap.
Really, please do a full view... the thumbnail is absolute crap.

Also, note that some older browsers may not display the full view properly. Yeah... even though PNG is my favorite format (especially for transparency) some browsers show evilness to it... If it still shows up with a black background or the hook looks really woppyjod, download it and view it in your favorite alpha-channel-friendly image editor (Photoshop, GIMP (free), etc.) or paste it into a MS Office, OpenOffice (free), or WordPerfect document (basically any document editor that supports rich formatting and images except wordpad). I may demonstrate its transparency later by pasting it onto a desktop screenshot.
